The Standard & Poor’s 500 and Nasdaq indexes opened trading on Friday with an increase after key inflation data came in weaker than expected, which strengthened investors’ optimism that the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) may reduce borrowing costs next year.
According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell at the opening by 55.08 points, or 0.15.5, to 37,349.27 points.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 rose by 7.17 points, or 0.15.5, to 4753.92 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 42.31 points, or 0.28.5, to 15,006.18 points at the opening.
