Xiaomi unveiled its first electric car, as part of the Chinese electronics manufacturer’s endeavor to become a global leader in this sector.
Xiaomi, the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, produces touch-screen tablets, Internet-connected watches, helmets, motorcycles, and scooters.
The group, which is based in Beijing, announced in 2021 that it will launch in the growing electric car sector, which several Chinese brands have entered into in recent months.
Xiaomi President Lei Jun presented the SU7, a sedan that is scheduled to begin marketing in 2025. Xiaomi equips the vehicle with software and electronics, while production is handled by BA. BAIC, the local manufacturer
“The goal is to become among the five largest manufacturers in the world after 15 to 20 years of hard work,” Lee Jun explained.
The SU7 batteries are provided by the Chinese company BYD, which is also a major manufacturer of electric cars, and its compatriot is CATL, and the battery range can reach Up to 800 km
Like Xiaomi, dozens of local brands have invested in the field of electric vehicles in recent years, with foreign manufacturers making difficult efforts to adapt.
Xiaomi was founded in 2010, and has witnessed rapid growth in recent years by offering advanced devices at reasonable prices, initially selling them directly online.
