US “Cyber Monday”… sales worth $12 billion expected ‎

Data from retail websites indicate that Cyber Monday in America, which falls tomorrow, will witness record sales and become the largest day for online shopping this year.

According to Reuters, Adobe Analytics expected shoppers to spend $12 billion, which represents a 5.4% increase over last year.

Cyber Monday is the first Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday and is famous for the many promotions offered by online merchants.

Rob Jarff, Vice President and General Manager of Salesforce Retail, said that the increase in online traffic on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, showed the amount of effort and time it takes shoppers to choose the cheapest merchandise. The cost and the highest in terms of value, according to Reuters

Meanwhile, Vivek Pandya, senior analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, expects that retailers will offer price reductions of up to an average of 30% on electronics and 19% on furniture.

Pandya added that shoppers on “Cyber Monday” may spend $4 billion between 6-11 pm EST because they will be concerned about weak discounts after that.

MasterCard, which measures retail sales across all forms of payment, said that e-commerce sales rose 8.5% on Black Friday, while in-store sales rose 1%.
