Wall Street falls as Treasury yields rise, focus turns to jobs data

Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday as the prospect of a longer restrictive monetary policy push pushed Treasury yields to the highest level in several years, while investors awaited employment data crucial to gauge US interest rate expectations.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 114.51 points, or 0.34%, at the opening to 33,318.84 points. The Standard & Poor’s 500 opened trading down 18.64 points, or 0.43%, at 4269.75 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 78.09 points, or 0.59%, to 13,229.68 points at the opening.
