Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) won first place at the Arabia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards (Arabia CSR Awards). This recognition is in appreciation of Ma’aden’s efforts in serving the community through the “Scientific Schools of Excellence” initiative, with the award highlighting the scientific and societal impact it has made.
This achievement comes through Ma’aden’s initiative that established the Scientific Schools of Excellence in Arar and Tarif since 2016. Ma’aden collaborated with the Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company (DTVC) – a wholly-owned subsidiary of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).
Due to this partnership and the support from the educational administration in the region, high-quality educational curricula have been designed for students. These curricula focus on enhancing critical thinking and nurturing talents while also developing their abilities in the field of natural sciences. This empowers ambitious young people to continue their education and meet the requirements of national development and the job market.
The Excellence Schools admit 200 students each year, with support provided to over 1,200 students and more than 858 students graduating since 2020. Among these graduates, 569 have been able to continue their educational journey in prestigious local and international universities in various important fields such as engineering, mathematics, technology, medicine, nursing, and pharmacology.
Ma’aden has invested SR158 million in this initiative, providing numerous growth opportunities for the areas surrounding the company’s operations in the Northern Borders region.
