Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, announced his country’s support for the Kingdom’s request to host the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, during his meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Council of Ministers and Climate Affairs Envoy, Mr. Adel Al-Jubeir, on the sidelines of the work of the United Nations General Assembly in Its 78th session in New York
The Minister reviewed with the President of Paraguay the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields, and discussed regional and international issues of common interest, ways to enhance cooperation in trade and investment, support cultural exchange and political dialogue, and support human cooperation at the level of students and cultural affairs.
Al-Jubeir expressed his aspiration to continue building this relationship, to reach greater heights, expressing his thanks to the Republic of Paraguay for its support in Saudi Arabia’s hosting of Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
This comes with reference to the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh – the body responsible for the Kingdom’s bid to host Expo 2030 – holding a ceremony for members of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Riyadh during its expanded forty-fifth session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, in her capacity as the current Chairman of the Committee between 10 – September 25th during the ceremony, the Authority reviewed the mechanism for operating the exhibition sit which will be done through clean energy based on solar energy, with the development of high standards for resource efficiencies and detailed strategies to enhance biodiversity, eliminate food waste, and ensure green waste management and recycling.
The Kingdom expects to receive 100 million visitors in 2030, 40 million people will visit Expo 2030, and there will be virtual visitors. The exhibition focuses on communication, diversity and inclusivity with all cultures, and the exhibition will be held during the period from October 1, 2030 to March 31, 2031, under the slogan “Together we anticipate the future.”
The Kingdom is awaiting the results of the voting and the announcement of the winning country during the organization during the General Assembly session of the International Bureau of Exhibitions and Exhibitions next November, after the end of the secret voting process in the General Assembly session of the International Bureau of Exhibitions in the French capital, Paris, where more than 100 countries out of 179 announced. A country expressed its full support for the “Riyadh Expo 2030” bid.
