US Semiconductor Industry Association warns: Huawei is ‎building a secret chipmaking network

The Semiconductor Industry Association in Washington has warned that Huawei Technologies is secretly building a group of semiconductor manufacturing facilities across China with the aim of circumventing US sanctions.

The association said, according to “Bloomberg”, that the Chinese technology giant entered the field of chip production last year and receives funding from the state estimated at $ 30 billion, and added that Huawei acquired at least two existing factories and is working on the construction of three other factories.

According to a Bloomberg report published by “Reuters”, Huawei’s building factories in the name of other companies, as the Semiconductor Industry Association says, would enable it to circumvent restrictions imposed by Washington and indirectly buy American equipment for the chip industry.

America included Huawei on the trade blacklist, which prevents most suppliers from sending goods and technology to the company without obtaining a license. Officials continue to tighten restrictions to prevent the company from buying or designing the semiconductor chips that make most of its products.
