Wall Street’s main indices closed higher on Tuesday ahead of key inflation data this week, as investors hoped a slowdown in price increases will support a faster-than-expected pause in monetary tightening.
According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 317.02 points, or 0.93 percent, at the opening, to 34,261.42 points. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index advanced by 29.73 points, or 0.67percent, to 4,439.26 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 75.22 points, or 0.55 percent, to 13,760.70 points.
