Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) reviewed, during its participation in the 2023 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held by the United Nations from July 10 to 19 in New York City, its experiences, initiatives, opportunities and technologies to promote the circular economy approach, improve indicators to raise operational efficiency, and enhance energy efficiency. Furthermore, SWCC reviewed its tireless efforts to promote research and innovation to preserve the environment and achieve sustainable development goals.
SWCC, which participates as part of 22 Saudi government entities, presented its pioneering experience to support (Sustainable Development Goal 6) for clean water and sanitation, especially in aspects of enhancing water supply security and improving the management and exploitation of natural resources, based on its leading position as a leader of the desalination industry, and a supporter of the development of innovative technologies and solutions, which enhance the quality of life, and achieve sustainability in the water sector in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
SWCC revealed its most prominent projects and effective initiatives to promote the circular economy approach in the desalination industry, based on adopting the concept of maximizing the use of resources and investing in brine return recycling opportunities and techniques to benefit from its by-products. This would contribute to diversifying and enhancing economic growth and achieving financial returns by expanding the establishment of several vital industries, such as the pharmaceutical industry and the military industries
