SAMA: Activities of restaurants and cafes accounts for 15% of ‎PoS operations in a week

The restaurants and cafes activity acquired the largest share of point-of-sale operations in the Kingdom during the first week of July, according to the weekly bulletin of the Saudi Central Bank. The operations in this activity amounted to 48 million operations, with a value of 1.7 billion riyals, representing 15% of the total value at the level of point-of-sale operations, which amounted to approximately 11 billion riyals.

In second place came the food and beverage activity, with 39 million transactions, at a value of 1.6 billion, or 14.5% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. The activity of miscellaneous goods and services came third, with about 18.5 million transactions, at a value of 1.2 billion riyals, or 11% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. The health activity ranked fourth with 7.2 million transactions, at a value of 723 million riyals, or 6.5% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And in fifth place was the activity of gas stations, with 12.7 million transactions, at a value of 718 million riyals, or 6.5% of the value of the total points of sale operations.

The clothing and footwear activity came sixth with nearly 5 million transactions, at a value of 680 million riyals, representing 6% of the total value of POS operations. The transportation activity came in seventh place, with 2.5 million transactions, at a value of 663 million riyals, or 6% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And in eighth place was the construction and building materials activity, with about 1.3 million transactions, at a value of 328 million riyals, representing 3% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. Entertainment and culture activities came ninth with nearly two million transactions at a value of 274 million riyals, or 2.5% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And in the tenth place was the jewelry activity, with 260,000 transactions, at a value of 267 million riyals, representing 2% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And in the eleventh place came the furniture activity, with a number of 990,000 transactions, at a value of 260 million riyals, representing 2% of the total value of point-of-sale operations.

And in the twelfth place came the activity of electronic and electrical devices, with a million transactions, at a value of 227 million riyals, representing 2% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And the hotel activity came in the thirteenth place with a number of 673 thousand transactions, at a value of 217 million riyals, representing 2% of the total value of POS operations, and the public utilities activity came in the fourteenth place with a number of 1.3 million transactions, at about 100 million riyals, 1% of the total value of POS transactions. And in the fifteenth place came the communications activity, with a number of 600,000 transactions, at a value of 86 million riyals, representing 1% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. And in the sixteenth place was the education activity, with 65,000 transactions, at a value of 75 million riyals, representing 0.6% of the total value of point-of-sale operations. While the number of other transactions amounted to 24 million, with a value of 1.8 billion riyals, representing 16% of the total value of POS operations.

At the level of the cities of the Kingdom, Riyadh topped point-of-sale operations in the Kingdom during the period from July 2 to July 7, according to the weekly bulletin of the Saudi Central Bank, as the number of weekly point-of-sale operations in Riyadh reached 46 million, with a value of 3.3 billion riyals. Jeddah ranked second with a number of 19.5 million operations, at a value of 1.6 billion riyals, and Dammam ranked third, with a number of 6.2 million operations, at a value of 519 million riyals.

Medina came in fourth place with 7.2 million, with a value of 459 million riyals. Makkah Al-Mukarramah ranked fifth with a number of 6.7 million operations, with a value of 440 million riyals. Al-Khobar ranked sixth with a number of 3.4 million operations, with a value of 300 million riyals. Buraidah came in eighth place with a number of 4 million operations, at a value of 278 million riyals, and Abha ranked ninth with a number of 3.4 million operations, at a value of 211 million riyals, and Hail ranked tenth with a number of 3.2 million operations, at a value of 192 million riyals. And in the eleventh place is Tabuk, with a number of 3.2 million operations, with a value of 184 million riyals. While the number of POS operations in other cities reached 63 million, with a value of 3.6 billion riyals.
