Largest deal ever .. Indian billionaire buys a mansion in London ‎for $145 million

Indian billionaire Ravi Roya has bought a $145m (£113m) London mansion linked to Russian property investor Andrei Goncharenko in one of the biggest housing deals in the British capital in recent years.

The Roya family office bought Hanover Lodge on Regent’s Park in July, a Grade II listed house at 150 Park Road, designed by architect John Nash and built for General Sir Robert Arbuthnot.

According to the Indian newspaper, The Economic Times, press reports quoted William Rego, a spokesman for the Roya family office, as saying that the property is under construction and has become available at a price that makes it an attractive investment for the family office.

The deal highlights the secrecy that still exists in London’s super real estate market, even after the UK’s attempts to bring more transparency through a registry launched last year, according to the report.

It is worth noting that Ravi Roya runs the Indian company Essar, which is active in the energy, infrastructure, minerals, mining and services sectors.
