Egyptian Prime Minister: Cairo looks forward to enhancing ‎cooperation with ACWA Power in desalination ‎

Dr. Mostafa Kamal Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, expressed his government’s desire to strengthen means of cooperation with ACWA Power in the field of water desalination to support Egypt in facing the challenges it faces with regard to water shortages, noting, during his meeting with Marco Archelli, CEO of ACWA Power, the company’s credibility and commitment to implementing huge projects of strategic importance.

During the meeting, Marco Archelli, CEO of ACWA Power, affirmed the company’s keenness to continue its efforts to provide innovative and sustainable solutions in the field of water desalination in the Middle East and North Africa region.

He said: “At ACWA Power, we are proud of the great confidence that the Egyptian government places in our ability to implement a number of projects on a large scale. I had the honor to meet His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and we affirm our commitment to moving forward in providing the Arab Republic of Egypt with its requirements of desalinated water in a sustainable and reliable manner. We look forward to strengthening cooperation with the Egyptian government during the coming years, which contributes to promoting sustainable and responsible development for the local community, and ensuring a brighter future for future generations.”

Today, ACWA Power owns 16 desalination plants in four countries, 10 of which are located in the Kingdom. In 2022, ACWA Power took the initiative to enhance its water desalination capabilities by producing 2.4 million cubic meters of desalinated water per day, through four desalination plants located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. Today, it manages production operations estimated at 6.8 million cubic meters of desalinated water per day.

It is worth mentioning that ACWA Power signed yesterday, Monday, a memorandum of understanding to allocate a land area to start developing a wind energy project with a capacity of 10 gigawatts in the West Sohag region of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
