It may be hard to believe that young entrepreneur Austin Russell – the youngest self-made billionaire – has anything in common with others his age but he insists.

According to CNBC, Russell, 28, has a fortune of $1.6 billion with the support of his Florida-based startup Luminar Technologies, which has a market value of $2.4 billion.

The company, which Russell founded 11 years ago when he was a teenager, develops software aimed at powering self-driving cars.

Very few teens or even people in their 20s or 30s can launch and sustain this kind of business, but the Thiel Fellowship gave Russell $100,000 to drop out of Stanford and grow the company full time.

But rather than focusing on technological news or business sense, Russell credited his trip to two qualities common to the younger generations: energy and passion.

Russell said: People in the third decade have a lot of energy, and they put a lot of passion in the things around them..I am certainly no exception to that, perhaps I took that issue to an extreme, and it is a very feasible issue.

A survey of software company SAP in 2020, which surveyed 10,000 people, showed that millennials are more passionate than baby boomers and generation X, with only generation Z currently surpassing them.

And in statements in 2021 to Forbes, Russell said: I was sixteen or seventeen when I said that I had a vision to develop a new type of laser system that would enable cars to drive themselves..and that we would beat Google, and all major car companies would use it in cars.

Russell said, I memorized the periodic table when I was about two years old, I was obsessed with learning certain things and understanding and learning a lot of new species in scientific fields.

Russell hopes to maintain his momentum for as long as possible even as he ages

The young businessman continued: I think that a lot of people in their twenties and thirties have a mind that is more open to the world..but it seems as if over time it closes or that people take root in certain ways, so often you have to Dealing with problems from a new perspective
