Saudi Ministry of Energy extends period for receiving ‎applications to provide gas services until August 31‎

Saudi Ministry of Energy announced the extension of the period for receiving qualification applications for competition for licenses to provide liquid petroleum gas services for activities, so that it ends on Thursday, August 31, 2023 instead of Friday, corresponding to June 30, 2023.

The Ministry of Energy revealed in a statement that the qualification request page can be visited through the link, while it called on the Ministry of Energy to communicate with it in the event of any inquiries via e-mail.

Last May, the Ministry of Energy announced the issuance of the executive regulations, organizational regulations, and service provision guide for the distribution system of dry gas and liquid petroleum gas for residential and commercial purposes in implementation of the system for the distribution of dry gas and liquid petroleum gas for residential and commercial purposes issued by Royal Decree No. (M / 126) dated 1/12/1438 AH, as amended by Royal Decree No. (M / 112) dated 9/11/1443 AH.

The ministry stated that the regulations included a classification of the system’s activities and licenses, including the transfer of LPG from its sources to LPG facilities or an independent gas distribution network, the establishment, development, operation or maintenance of LPG filling and storage facilities, and bulk distribution of LPG. And the retail sale of liquid petroleum gas cylinders, in addition to the conditions for granting licenses, which will be put to competition by inviting a number of those who meet the conditions.

The issuance of the executive regulations, regulations and service provision guide comes within the framework of the Ministry of Energy’s endeavor to achieve the objectives of the dry gas and liquid petroleum gas distribution system for residential and commercial purposes seeking to encourage competition, improve the level of services, achieve security of supply, enhance the efficiency of licensees, and raise the level of standards and the standards applied in this vital service, the localization of technology, and the protection of the interests of the beneficiaries of this service by activating the guide for providing the service of distributing and selling liquid petroleum gas, which defines the obligations of licensees, the rights of consumers, and the policy for handling complaints.

The Ministry aims, by approving the executive regulations and regulations, and the guide to providing and activating the service, to encourage investment in the various activities of distributing liquid petroleum gas, in order to ensure the achievement of the public interest and the development goals of the Kingdom, by creating a competitive environment that achieves a feasible economic return that contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s vision 2030.
