Saudi Energy Minister: “OPEC +” only aims to stabilize oil ‎market

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, said today, Friday, that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries “OPEC” and the “OPEC +” alliance only target market stability, including the benefit of producers, the petroleum industry, and the concept of energy security.

The minister added, in a speech on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of OPEC in Baghdad: “Consensus is the basic principle of “OPEC +”, and without it, we would not have been able to maintain market stability in light of economic fluctuations.

He stated that “OPEC +” decisions last week were made by unanimous consensus that will restore our internal situation as “OPEC” and “OPEC +”.

And the Minister of Energy continued: We must not forget the successes of OPEC, which had an active role in establishing the OPEC Fund, which will remain a resource for developing countries, and the fund’s program is known to all.

The Minister of Energy said, “What connects us with Iraq is not pipes and power lines. What connects us with Iraq is veins,, families, tribes, history and lineages that are renewed every day and will remain every day because they are in our conscience and we will not abandon them.”
