‎“Aramco” signs MoU to support cultivation and production of ‎bagel almonds in Maysan Governorate

Saudi Aramco signed a memorandum of understanding with the Makkah Region Development Authority and the Haddad Bani Malik Multipurpose Cooperative Society, as part of the company’s efforts in the field of citizenship and fulfilling social responsibility by supporting small projects in the Kingdom. The memorandum aims to support the local economy in the region by implementing an initiative to support the cultivation and production of bagel almonds in Maysan Governorate, Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of Saudi Aramco, Vice President for Public Affairs, Khaled Al-Zamil, and on behalf of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region Development Authority, its CEO, Ahmed Al-Ardhi, and on behalf of the Haddad Bani Malik Multipurpose Cooperative Association, Chairman of its Board of Directors, Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Maliki.

On this occasion, Khaled Al-Zamil said: “Saudi Aramco has strong relations with the Makkah region, which is rich in natural resources, national competencies, and a strategic location that qualifies it to be one of the important economic tributaries in the Kingdom, and the company is proud to launch these qualitative initiatives that promote investment empowerment in agricultural products, and provide job opportunities. We work with national institutions, bodies and associations to reap together the fruit of our cooperation to find high-quality local products that meet market demands and contribute to supporting the local economy. What happened today embodies the values of Saudi Aramco, and reflects the extent of the success of its efforts in fulfilling the requirements of citizenship to serve the community and support the local economy in the region.

Through this initiative, Saudi Aramco will provide operational support and specialized training to about 100 male and female farmers, the largest segment of whom are low-income, with the aim of improving their skills and competence and enabling them to obtain more sustainable and profitable job opportunities. The initiative also aims to benefit from modern agricultural technologies, and introduce advanced equipment and high quality standards in the process of growing, harvesting, storing and marketing almond products, which contributes to raising the level of productivity, competitiveness and environmental sustainability.
