Saudi negotiating team holds its 2nd meeting for free trade ‎negotiation between GCC and UK

The Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade for International Conventions and Organizations, Head of the Saudi Negotiating Team, Farid bin Saeed Al-Asali, presided over the second meeting of the Saudi negotiating team yesterday, at the Authority’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of heads of negotiating technical teams, directors of departments and coordinators of technical teams.

The meeting aims to prepare for holding the third round of free trade agreement negotiations between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United Kingdom during the period 12-16 March 2023 AD, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in the city of Riyadh.

During the meeting, the team reviewed a summary of the progress of the negotiations and discussed the terms of the agreement with the heads of the negotiating technical teams. The terms of the meeting also included the topics of the negotiating technical teams related to goods and rules of origin, investment and services, electronic commerce, and general texts and provisions.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi negotiating team is working to supervise and follow up the progress of trade negotiations to ensure their compatibility with the Kingdom’s commercial goals and policies, and to participate in trade negotiations to include the Kingdom’s negotiating positions, and to coordinate with countries with similar or similar orientations in international trade.
