Wholesale prices in the Kingdom recorded 3.6% during January ‎‎2023‎

The General Authority for Statistics revealed that the index of the wholesale price index in the Kingdom for the month of January 2023 AD increased by 3.6% compared to its counterpart for the year 2022 AD, which is higher than the previous month of December 2022 AD, when it was 3%, but clearly lower than the average of last year. The increase in the index came mainly in January 2023, due to the increase in the prices of food products, beverages, tobacco and textiles by 7.6%.

The authority said that the section on food products, beverages, tobacco and textiles recorded an increase of 7.6% as a result of the increase in the prices of dairy products by 20% and the prices of meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, oils and fats by 14.5%.

The other transportable goods section also recorded an increase in its prices by 4.2%, as a result of the increase in the prices of refined petroleum products by 3.8% and the increase in the prices of basic chemical products by 6.6%.

The agricultural and fishing products section increased by 5.7%; Affected by the increase in the prices of agricultural products by 7% and the prices of live animals and animal products by 2.7%

The section on metal products, machinery and equipment increased by 0.9%; As a result of the increase in the prices of machinery used in general purposes by 9%, and the prices of transport equipment by 5.3%. Raw materials and minerals increased by 2.4% as a result of the increase in the prices of stones and sand by 2.4%.

The authority stated that the wholesale price index increased by 0.7% on a monthly basis for the month of January 2023 AD, compared to December 2022 AD, as a result of the increase in the prices of food products, beverages, tobacco and textiles by 1.3%; this is due to the increase in dairy products prices by 10%

The door of other transportable goods also recorded an increase in its prices by 0.9%; As a result of the increase in the prices of refined petroleum products by 3.7%, as well as the metal products, machinery and equipment section, an increase of 0.3%; As a result of the increase in the prices of specialized machines by 1.6%.

The section on agricultural and fishing products increased by 0.3%, affected by the increase in the prices of fish and other fish products by 1.5%.

The Ores and Metals section increased by 0.4%; As a result of the increase in the prices of stones and sand by 0.4%.
