Abo Moati: Financial impact of stopping sales system due to electronic attack ‘very limited’

Abdullah Saad Mohammed Abo Moati for Bookstores Co. announced on Monday that the company’s servers have been subjected to an electronic attack.
As a result, the sales system stopped for some of the retail branches, and the branches were gradually restarted within a few days, as the financial impact of these sales is very limited. Expected delay in announcing the company’s financial results for the third quarter ending on December 31, 2022, within the specified deadline.
The company said today on Tadawul that this breach also resulted in the loss of some financial data for the period from 04th Nov 2022 to 07th Dec 2022. Since the company, praise be to God, has Paper backup copies, the lost data has been processed on the system. With the help of an accredited cyber security company, we successfully managed to examine all of the company’s systems and network; this specialised cyber security firm has assured us that the company IT infrastructure is free from any traces of this attack and that they are operating normally.
