US ride-hailing company Uber reported record revenue of $8.6 billion in the most recent quarter.
Revenues jumped 49% compared to the same period last year despite the economic downturn.
The company said that the number of customers who use Uber each month increased by about 11%, to 131 million, in the last three months of 2022. According to The New York Times.
Uber indicated that it had avoided the downturn that has hit many technology companies, in what Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, described as the company’s “strongest quarter ever.”
Uber reported profits of $8.6 billion in the last three months of 2022, an increase of 49% from the previous year, when the coronavirus weakened travel. The company generated $30.7 billion in total bookings – the amount customers paid – representing a 19% jump year-on-year.
