European stocks opened higher on Monday to start the New Year but most global markets were closed for the holiday, AFP reported.
The Paris CAC 40 jumped by 0.8 percent to 6,525.73 points while the Frankfurt DAX gained 0.6 percent to 14,001.91.
London’s FTSE 100, Asian stock markets and Wall Street were closed on Monday to mark the New Year holiday.
