Saudi Arabia ranks 3rd globally in Digital Government Maturity ‎Index for 2022‎

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a new global distinction, by advancing in the data of the Digital Government Maturity Index for the year 2022 issued by the World Bank Group, to rank (third) globally, among (198) countries, and (first) regionally. This came during the press conference held today in the American capital, Washington, to announce the index.

The results showed that Saudi Arabia advanced in all sub-indicators, as it was ranked within the group of “very developed” countries, which includes countries with very high performance in the field of e-government.

On this occasion, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, raised his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them both. For the support and empowerment they provide to advance the digital transformation process in the Kingdom

‏For his part, His Excellency the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Suwaiyan, expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s achievement, which comes as a culmination of integration and joint work between government agencies within the digital transformation initiatives and programs to achieve the goals of the “Kingdom’s Vision 2030”, by Through the provision of advanced government services through high-quality digital products that support the march of the national economy, praising the keenness and follow-up that the digital government enjoyed through the unlimited support of the wise leadership, may God support it.

The Kingdom was distinguished in the digital government maturity index and its sub-indicators, as the index measures 4 main areas: the availability of basic government systems, the provision of digital government services, interaction with citizens, and the promotion of government digital transformation capabilities.

According to the index data, the Kingdom has achieved a high maturity rate at the level of the general index, at a rate of 97.13%, which placed the Kingdom among the leading and innovative countries globally.

In the basic government systems index, the Kingdom’s maturity rate in this field reached 96.29%, while its maturity reached 97.69% in the government digital transformation enablers index. In addition, the Kingdom continued to excel at the level of the two indicators of providing digital government services and interacting with citizens. With maturity rates of 97.93% and 96.62%, respectively, to make the Kingdom among the group of highly developed countries with classification (A) in all sub-indicators.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom recently achieved its highest historical result in the e-government development index issued by the United Nations and advanced 12 ranks globally. Within the scope of countries similar to it economically and socially, and the city of Riyadh ranked fourth in the world in the use of technology and its applications within the “very high” range among 193 cities around the world.
