The Ministry of Tourism denied that the Kingdom submitted an official request to host the 2030 World Cup. The ministry said on its Twitter account: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has not submitted an official bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
The ministry added that the Kingdom is always interested in hosting major sporting events, as part of the promotion of sports and tourism internally, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Bloomberg had quoted statements attributed to the Minister of Tourism stating that the Kingdom is seeking to host the World Cup, in partnership with Egypt and Greece, which the ministry denied through its official account.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom has already secured the organization of the Asian Winter Games in 2029 in Trogina, in the Neum region, and is seeking to win the organization of the 2027 Asian Football Championship, and has previously organized several important sporting events, including: “Formula 1” car racing annually, and Formula One E and many high-level boxing matches.
