‎”Black Hat” Event launched in Riyadh for cybersecurity ‎

The global “Black Hat” event, which lasts for three days, was launched today at the Riyadh Front Center and brings together the most important cybersecurity experts in the world, and the largest cybersecurity event in the Middle East and North Africa region.

This event is being organized in cooperation between the Saudi Federation for Cyber ​​Security, Programming, Drones, and Informa Tech, in partnership with the General Entertainment Authority, as part of the activities of the Riyadh season for the current year, as it will start on November 15 for a period of three days at the Riyadh Front Center.

The Black Hat event includes 6 main areas, namely: the executive summit area dedicated to the heads of the cybersecurity sector to discuss the latest developments, exchange expertise and experiences, the event also includes the technical workshops area, and the business hall that brings together major and emerging companies specialized in the field, whether global or The local area, as well as the Arsenal region in which developers share the latest open source hacking methods, as well as training courses offered by 50 professional coaches.

The Black Hat event includes the event area, which is strategically sponsored by NEOM, and includes the “Capture the Flag” competition, where competitors take on various challenges such as exploiting loopholes for websites, digital forensics, reverse engineering, encryption and others, in order to obtain the largest number of Flags and dots.

The “Capture the Flag” competition comes with the participation of 1,000 contestants representing 200 teams from 35 countries, competing over 3 days for competition prizes amounting to 700,000 riyals.

The events area also contains the “Gap Rewards Platform” competition, which motivates participants to hunt and discover security holes in real companies, with the total competition prizes amounting to 300,000 riyals, and the events area includes the “Cyber ​​Village” which brings together 6 different challenges, namely The Vehicle Hacking Challenge that aims to educate security researchers about the functions of vehicle systems as well as provide them with practical experience.

The area also offers the unlock challenge, which is a physical security experience where visitors can learn about the weaknesses in different locks, as well as the room escape challenge, which is a challenge based on team cooperation where the contestants solve a series of puzzles within a limited time frame, and the city challenge comes Smartphones simulate different sectors of infrastructure, and security researchers can exploit security vulnerabilities in infrastructure facilities.

The region also includes the challenge of penetrating the drones, which is a challenge based on a competition between two teams, where the first team seeks to deliver the largest number of shipments by drones, while the other team seeks to carry out various cyber attacks on the first team’s drones, and finally penetrate the electronic chips that allow visitors to identify On how to hack mobile devices, the Internet of Things, and control access to stored data.

While the Cyber ​​Seed competition comes within the business hall area, the participating startups present their business ideas in front of technology experts and investors to win prizes exceeding 90,000 riyals.

It is noteworthy that “Black Hat” is a global event specialized in cybersecurity that was launched in 1997, as it is one of the most important global forums for the information security sector and a destination for those interested in it. It began as an annual event held in Las Vegas before moving to many countries of the world. .

The event comes for the first time in the region this year in Riyadh; with the aim of exchanging experiences, reviewing the latest technology in facing challenges, and enhancing cyber skills.
