International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has honored the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Eng. Majed Bin Muhammad Al-Mazyed who was granted the gold medal, in a gesture of appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts while heading the work team of ITU Council. The honoring ceremony was held during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022, currently held in Bucharest, Romania.
ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao said: “Today, we are honoring the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed who contributed to supporting the works of the union while heading the work team of the council concerned with international general policy issues related to the internet since its establishment in 2009”.
The work team of the council concerned with international general policy issues related to the internet is considered the most important work teams of the council and witnesses intensified presence and remarkable interaction by several countries for what it receives of international concern due to the issues it considers, and for its being an international platform for governments to discuss general policy issues for the internet and prepare necessary decisions or recommendations.
