Saudi Arabia Achieves Self-Sufficiency by 121% in Fresh Dairy Products During 2021

According to the Agricultural Statistics Publication, fresh dairy products came first in achieving self-sufficiency at a rate of 121% in Saudi Arabia for the year 2021, followed by table eggs at a rate of 112%, while fish reached 40%. Dates ranked first in plant resources, with a self-sufficiency rate of 118% and a local production of 1,565 thousand tons for 2021, while the self-sufficiency of tomatoes was 77% and onions was 52%.

Exports and Imports of Agricultural Products and Livestock

The total amount of agricultural imports in the Kingdom for the year 2021 was 20,037 thousand tons, among which grain accounted for 42.5%. The total quantity of exports for the same year was 2,652 thousand tons, from which 23.5% was “dairy products, eggs, natural honey”.

Organic Agricultural Statistics on Livestock and Agricultural Crops

Results showed that the number of cows in organic agriculture is 600 heads in Saudi Arabia for 2021. As for the organic hives, the number of hives reached 6,500. In terms of organic agricultural crop cultivation, statistics show that the total area of organic agriculture in Saudi Arabia is 27,109 hectares for 2021, representing a 1.8% increase over 2020. Fruit (except dates) came first in area with 13,243 hectares, represented by 48.9% of Saudi Arabia’s agriculture organic area for 2021, followed by palm tree at 23.8%. The total production of organic agricultural crops in Saudi Arabia reached 98,774 tons for 2021, the fruit (except dates) accounted for 63.3% of organic agriculture production.

Loans distributed to Stakeholder’s Sectors at 2bn SAR

The value of loans distributed to the stakeholders’ sectors reached 2,022 million SAR by the end of 2021. Meanwhile, the number of agricultural projects financed by the ADF in 2021 reached 60 projects, including 22 poultry projects at a value of 328 million SAR, and 14 greenhouse projects at a value of 384 million SAR.

Bank Credit Granted by Banks and Finance Companies for Agriculture Activities

The value of bank credit granted by banks for agriculture and fishing activities amounted to 13,961 million riyals in 2021, and bank credit granted by finance companies amounted to 94 million riyals in the same year.
