As part of its corporate social responsibility strategy “Bakrah”, Riyad Bank has signed a memorandum of cooperation to recycle used furniture with the Cooperative Society in the Eastern Province “ATHATH”.
The agreement was signed by Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Duwaila, Secretary-General of the Society and a member of the Board of Directors, and Tariq bin Abdul Rahman Al-Sadhan, CEO of Riyad Bank, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al-Fawzan, his deputy, Mr. Hani bin Hassan Al-Afaleq, and a number of representatives of both sides
This agreement comes to reinforce the pivotal role played by Riyad Bank in achieving societal sustainability, which resulted in a package of agreements, initiatives and qualitative projects.
Whereas, under this memorandum, Riyad Bank will provide used and unused furniture to be recycled by the association, and then provide it as community support to individuals with limited income, non-profit organizations and other beneficiary groups for reuse.
Tariq Al-Sadhan stressed on this occasion, Riyad Bank’s keenness to deepen its role and contributions in the field of societal sustainability, and this memorandum comes as a model that reflects this role in line with its strategy for social responsibility “Bakrah” directed at launching qualitative initiatives with the non-profit sector, which in turn constitutes a major focus for targeted development.
For his part, Abdullah Al-Fawzan stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in cooperating with social responsibility projects in the non-profit sector, explaining that the cooperative association “ATHATH” is one of the modern and qualitative community projects within the system of initiatives to preserve grace, and came with the support and empowerment of a number of Businessmen with the aim of promoting a culture of preserving grace and raising awareness of the importance of furniture recycling. Al-Fawzan added, “We found great interaction and support for the idea of the association from various parties in the governmental and private sectors, so we worked on signing a number of agreements to establish sustainable partnerships in order to achieve the maximum means of cooperation to serve the community.
