PTA Stops Importing Trucks for Transporting Goods with an Operational Life of More than 5 years, Starting Next Month

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has announced the implementation of the work under the Cabinet’s decision No. 199, dated 04/04/1443 AH, to stop importing trucks for transporting goods with an operational life of more than 5 years from the manufacturing year. Therefore, the work under the decision will come into effect on 05/05 / 2022.

PTA confirmed that this decision will apply to all heavy transport trucks designed for transporting goods, whose total weight exceeds 3.5 tons and including (locomotives, trailers, semi-trailers), providing that the age is calculated from the beginning of January of the manufacturing year.

PTA indicated that the implementation of the work as required by the decision will contribute to raising the efficiency and competitiveness of the transport fleet, by supporting and developing the activity of transporting goods and will contribute to achieving the strategic objectives of preserving the environment, reducing carbon emissions and pollution, in addition to reducing the rate of fuel consumption, along with operating and maintenance costs.
