Cement sales in Saudi market down 9% in 1Q

The monthly report of Yamama Co. on cement output in the Saudi market showed a decline of 11% during the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, while the cement sales in domestic market slipped 9% and exports decreased 33%.

The company reported that the cement sales in Saudi market down to 14 million tons in 1Q from 15.9 million tons a year ago.

The March report also added that Saudi cement production slid 14% for the second month in a row. The total output declined to 4.2 million tons from 4.9 million tons in February 2021.

In 2021, cement exports of Saudi companies hit a new record at 8.2 million tons, with an increase of 23%.
