Ministry of Culture, SEDA Co-sign MoU

Ministry of Culture signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Export Development Authority (SEDA), setting off a joint framework for developing the economic impact of the cultural sector, by providing promising opportunities for establishments operating in it, expanding the scope of their businesses and promoting them locally and globally, as well as encouraging consumers to purchase local goods, and enhancing the Kingdom’s exports to global markets.

The ministry was represented by the Deputy Minister of Culture Hamid Fayez, while the commission was represented by its Secretary General Osama Al-Zamil.

The memo included multiple areas of cooperation, including the contribution of the cultural system to the strategy of the “Made in Saudi Arabia” program related to the cultural sectors, and contribution to the expansion of the range of industries and products, targeted by the program, including products related to the cultural sector, in addition to cooperation to enhance confidence in the quality of Saudi products and development of standards for the cultural goods and services included in the program.

As well as the development of conditions for applying them, and linking them to relevant licenses, specifically the crafts sector, exchanging data and information for cultural products, companies and manufacturers.

The memorandum also included cooperation in promoting cultural products and their manufacturers, facilitating their access to local and international markets through the “Made in Saudi Arabia” program, supporting their participation in international exhibitions, developing sub-brands of the program, in line with the cultural sectors orientation, and building the capacities of cultural producers through training programs and consultancy for quality certificates, and the development of content and skills provided by the program.

The document comes within the tireless efforts led by the Ministry of Culture to achieve the principle of partnership and integration with government agencies, to work towards achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
