Completion of Institutional Transformation of 25 Airports, GACA, Matarat Announced

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Matarat Holding company announced the completion of the institutional transfer of as many as 25 Kingdom’s airports, and the launch of Jeddah Airports Company as well as the 2nd Assembly company, in a ceremony held by the Matarat Company, an affiliate of GACA , in Riyadh, under the patronage of Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services.

The announcement of the institutional transfer of airports and assigning their operation to the private sector, falls in line with the noble royal decree to separate the legislative aspect from the operational one, and reflects the practical steps applied for one of the objectives of the civil aviation sector strategy, approved by the Cabinet to develop Saudi airports, and raise their operational efficiency, to provide the best and finest services to the passengers.

Furthermore, to make the Kingdom’s airports among world-leading airports, and create promising investment opportunities that would contribute to advancing the national economy and promote the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP).
