Overall assets of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) rose to as much as SR1.848 trillion ($492.8 billion) at the end of last December, an increase of SR1.9 billion, or 0.1%, compared to December 2020, at SR1.847 trillion.
The assets decreased by about SR44.3 billion, or 2.3%, compared to their levels in November 2021, at SR1.893 trillion.
They increased during December 2021 compared to the same month of 2020, despite a decrease in deposits with banks abroad by 6.5%, amounted to SR291.4 billion, compared to SR311.7 billion in 2020, while investments in securities abroad rose to SR1132.7 billion, at a rate of 0.8% compared to 2020, at SR1124.1 billion, while other assets decreased by 1.1%.
SAMA’s assets consist of foreign exchange and gold, cash in the fund, deposits with banks abroad, and investments in securities abroad, in addition to other miscellaneous assets.
