Oil Prices Rise, Capitalizing on Supplies’ Disruption

Crude prices rise today, capitalizing on supply disruptions due to turmoil, in Kazakhstan as well as in Libya, to offset impact and fears stemming from the rapid global spread of the mutating Omicron variant of the coronavirus’ pandemic.

Brent blend, the world benchmark, rose 16-cent, or 0.2 percent to $81.91 a barrel, at 0406 GMT.

For its part, the US West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.2 percent, too, or 15-cent, to post $79.05 a barrel.
