In conjunction with the preparation of the hydrogen strategy's launching

Ministry of Energy Inks as many as 8-MoU, with several Authorities

In the presence Prince-minister of Energy  Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the ministry signed 8 memos of understanding with several authorities to implement a host of pilot projects for vehicles and buses, that run on hydrogen fuel cells, in selected locations and roads in an array of cities, across the Kingdom. The process will include vehicles, buses, trains, transportation applications with hydrogen fuel cell technology, and a sustainable aviation fuel production project.

In a statement on this occasion, Prince-minister of Energy pointed to the interest paid by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the energy sector, and his keenness to develop and invest all energy resources, that the Kingdom enjoys, explaining that this step comes in conjunction with the preparation of the hydrogen strategy, as a part of the integrated energy strategy, which includes targets, roadmap and timetable for realization.

He valued the support and backing of HRH Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, adding that: It is an embodiment of the permanent support and assistance of HRH Crown Prince to the various energy sectors, as I must note here the great leadership role, HRH Crown Prince is promoting in empowering the energy sector, through continuous follow-up and the great support that we receive, at all levels, in addition to his chairmanship of different higher committees concerned with the energy sector.

“I cannot fail to commend, also, the cooperation and integration that appeared between the partners, in drafting and forming these memoranda, in their various fields.

This cooperation and integration represent a real support for our endeavors to achieve the goal set by the Kingdom Vision 2030 to diversify the available energy sources, in the Kingdom, and make it a pioneer in all energy fields, globally, as it has been the global leader in the petroleum industry, for through decades.

Prince-minister of Energy has, personally, signed 4 memoranda of understanding, the first on the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and buses project with Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University, the 2nd was a memorandum on the hydrogen fuel cell trains project with the Saudi Railways Company (SAR), the 3rd memorandum on a sustainable jet fuel production project with the Saudi Company for Development and Technical Investment “Taqnia” and the 4th memorandum of the project of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and buses with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.

For his part, the Assistant Minister of Energy for Development and Excellence, Eng. Ahmed Al-Zahrani has signed 3 memoranda of understanding, the 1st on the project of transport applications of hydrogen fuel cell technology with NEOM, the 2nd was a hydrogen fuel cell for buses project with the Royal Commission for the Holy City of Makkah and the Holy Sites, and the 3rd was about the hydrogen fuel cell bus applications project with the Red Sea Development Company.

While the Assistant Minister of Energy for Petroleum and Gas Affairs, Eng. Mohammed Al-Brahim has signed a memorandum of understanding for the hydrogen fuel transportation applications project with the Saudi Services Company.
