The Saudi Pavilion, at the Expo 2020 Dubai, experienced the launching of the Year of the Saudi Coffee initiative, as its week-long events will take place through to January 29, including a series of functions, activities, and workshops for visitors of all ages, with the participation of several international partners.
In addition to the live performances that will take place in the pavilion’s external arena, with the aim of introducing visitors to the significance of this initiative and its role in highlighting the value of the Saudi coffee as one of the main elements, in the Saudi culture, closely related to the identity of the Kingdom.
In the Palm Garden in the Kingdom Pavilion, the “Sard” Café organized a workshop on preparing the Saudi coffee, through a detailed practical explanation, where each region of the Kingdom characterizes, with a unique preparation method, while its gradual tastes range from coffee with “light roast” through the medium to dark coffee of the northern region, in addition to a detailed explanation of the journey of the Saudi Khawlani coffee fruit to the Saudi cup of coffee, the types and forms of pampering, were presented, too, according to the different regions, derived from the Saudi environment.
Through this event, the Saudi pavilion succeeded in attracting a diverse international audience, introducing the meanings of the Saudi coffee and its cultural value.
In parallel, the pavilion organized a special event through which several countries opened the way to present their own coffee, next to Saudi coffee, especially countries that are famous for coffee cultivation such as: Honduras, Australia Colombia, Panama, Ethiopia, Latvia, Bolivia, Peru and Kenya, where each country introduced its most prominent coffee fruits, methods of preparation and tools used, amid.
The visitors to the pavilion watched a short film revolving around the “Year of Saudi Coffee 2022” initiative, which celebrates the relationship of the Saudis with their distinctive coffee, which is a symbol of generosity and hospitality, at a time when the status of coffee, in the Saudi society is reflected in an array of diverse types.
It displays more than 13 types, each with its own taste and flavor, while the 1st day concluded by the performance of the Saudi band for the arts of “Al-Khabeiti” and “Al-Liwa”, welcoming the visitors.\
The “Saudi Coffee” week comes as a festive gesture in line with the Ministry of Culture’s announcement of the designation of 2022 as the “Year of Saudi Coffee” to celebrate the cultural value of Saudi coffee and its association with authentic social customs and traditions. The initiative reflects the nature of the unique relationship between the Saudi coffee and the Saudi identity throughout history and, in all regions, across the Kingdom.
As a cultural product par excellence, the Saudi coffee is linked to the manifestations of generosity and hospitality that were known about all Saudi segments and walks of life.
