Undersecretary of Agriculture stresses:

Cooperation with Specialized Research Bodies to Develop the Livestock Sector

The qualitative and transitional transformation, in the intensive livestock sector, is among the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture interests to develop livestock, in the Kingdom, in cooperation with specialized research authorities, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed Al-Ayada, explained.

Such a task is based on an integrated work system to support livestock breeders, through the program of agricultural subsidies directed to small livestock breeders, with the aim of increasing production efficiency and creating job opportunities, he added.

This came during a presentation of the results of a research study carried out by King Saud University, at the headquarters of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, in Riyadh.

The study, which was titled “The Quality of Compound Feeds for Feeding Cattle and Breeding”, aimed to determine the optimum level of fiber and the size of the forage particles introduced into the integrated feed cubes for cattle, in the fattening and rearing phase, and to recommend fiber specifications and sizes with complete feed cubes suitable for livestock production, and to provide optimal recommendations for the livestock sector, feed industry and livestock producers.

Integrated compound feed is a mixture of different feed materials, which are mixed in the form of cubes to meet all the animal’s nutritional needs, based on the type, age and production status, the Director General of the Animal Production Department, at the Ministry, Dr. Al-Arabi Al-Ameem indicated.

The fact that the adoption of integrated compound feeds is based on several different factors, including the type of livestock, the productive state, the physiological state, the availability of feed materials and their prices, he highlighted.

It is noteworthy that the workshop included a discussion of the situation of the animal feed industry, and the obstacles facing feed producers, in the Kingdom.
