The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resource have issued as many as 690 mining licenses, since the beginning of the Year 2021, until the end of last November.
These licenses include 517 for building materials quarries, for 143 exploration, and 30 for reconnaissance, bringing the total number of valid mining licenses to 1,913, while the sector achieved during the last 10-month the highest revenues, in its history, exceeding SR724 million, an increase of more than 27% compared to the same period last year.
Total licenses issued during the month of November amounted to 34 licenses, including 26 for building materials quarry, 7 for exploration and one for reconnaissance, distributed among Kingdom’s various regions, a report issued by the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information, indicated.
Riyadh region acquired the largest number of valid building materials quarry licenses with 388, followed by the Makkah region with 373, then the Eastern region with 278, and the Medina region, which recorded 210 of the total building materials licenses, in the sector, while materials crushers, gold, associated minerals, sand, gravel, gravel materials and granite blocks are the top five materials according to the distribution of mining licenses.
Mining investment system and its executive regulations define six types of mining licenses, including the reconnaissance that includes all types of minerals for a period of two years, which is extendable, and a detection license for all types of minerals for a period of five years for categories (A, B), and a license for category C.
A one-year, general-purpose license linked to a mining or small-scale mining license.
The regulation also included exploitation licenses, which include: a mineral mining license of categories (A) and (B), whose license period does not exceed 30 years, subject to renewal or extension, a small mine license for minerals of categories (A) and (B), and the duration of its license does not exceed 20 years, and the building materials quarry license, for minerals category (C), with license period for up to 10-year, and it is extendable.
It is noteworthy that the Mining Portal or (Taadin) platform enables investors to apply for licenses and services, through a unified digital platform that includes everything related to the mining sector, in order to facilitate the investor’s journey, increase the satisfaction of the beneficiaries, reduce the number of procedures for each process and save time and effort required for each procedure.
