Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Snack Food Company Ltd. (PepsiCo.)
The memorandum aims to establish a joint framework, in order to support small and medium size industrial enterprises, contribute to women’s empowerment amid the industrial revival, develop technical and professional skills for young people interested in working in the industrial sector, and train more than 12,000 Saudis for future careers, in the industrial sector, as well as 2,000 female employees, in particular.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources remarked that working with the private sector is an important strategic trend, in supporting the Kingdom’s industrial progress and the development of human capabilities, emphasizing that the private sector has significant opportunities to invest in upgrading Saudi talents, transfer knowledge, and create high-quality job opportunities for the country’s young.
Future plans aim to prepare the country’s sons and daughters for future jobs in the industrial and mining sectors, which require practical knowledge in the areas of innovation and digital skills, and to align them with the demands of the 4th Industrial Revolution, which the Ministry seeks to achieve by supporting and adopting initiatives aimed, at investing in the human resources, through training and employment.
The “Kingdom’s Vision 2030” emphasizes diversification of the economic base, which includes the industrial and mining sectors, as one of the main pillars in improving the trade balance, increasing non-oil exports, and contributing to increased gross domestic product in order to achieve sustainable development.
Co-signing of the memo of understanding coincided with the launch of PepsiCo’s “Proudly Saudi” campaign, aims to empower 13,750 Saudi youth and help them build better careers, as well as train 250 employees in the private sector and the food industry and support young people’s job readiness.
