Middle East Aircraft Engines Ltd. and the Spanish company ITP sign a joint cooperation agreement to repair Typhoon aircraft engines.
Indeed, it is a memorandum of technical cooperation, in the field of
repair and overhaul of parts of (EJ200) engines for Typhoon aircraft of the Royal Saudi Air Force, whereas, also, the memorandum of cooperation aims to repair and overhaul the part (M15) of (EJ200) engines, which are manufactured by the Spanish ITP company.
The signing of the agreement, which was held on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2021, took place, in the presence of the CEO of “Middle East” Eng. Abdullah Al-Omari, and the Director of Programs, in the Spanish Defense Business Unit Luis Marcos.
The agreement is the first with the Spanish company, and it will be followed by other agreements to complete the transfer and localization of all repair and overhaul work for EJ200 engine parts for Typhoon aircraft, as the agreement includes training, technical support, spare parts and mechanisms, Al-Omari confirmed.
Continuous development to benefit from the expertise of the Spanish company and the application of the latest technologies, in the field of repair and overhaul of military engines, is among the main goals, he stated, adding that the company attaches great importance to the issue of achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as the company has so far achieved great success, in this field, in recent years, through the transfer, localization, repair, overhaul and development of a large number of fully military engines, including: F-15S/SE aircraft engines.
The engines of the C-130 transport aircraft, the engines of the Tornado aircraft, and the engines of the Apache and Black Hawk aircraft, are among.
Company’s efforts are vigorous towards completing the transfer and localization of repair and overhaul capabilities for Typhoon aircraft engines and Abrams tank engines (AGT1500), he pointed out, revealing, at the same time, that the percentage of national competencies working on these programs, including engineers and technicians, ranges from 90% and 100%.
It is worth noting that the Middle East Aircraft Engines company Ltd. has signed during the past four months similar agreements with: the British Rolls-Royce company, the German MTU company, and the Italian Avio Aero company, with the aim of completing its plans, to transfer and localize repair and overhaul work on all parts of the (Ej200) engines) for Typhoon aircraft, during the next three years, which will contribute to supporting the combat readiness of this system, through the sustainability of these engines.
