Saudi transport and logistics system has continued the task of developing and upgrading the logistics sector, and its related services, through improving work, in the sector, and benefiting from promising investment opportunities, that enhance the local economy and its connection to the international market, and consolidate the Kingdom’s strategic position among the rest of the countries, as a global logistics hub, for trade and economic movement.
The Logistics License, notably, aims to develop and raise the logistic performance index, in a move to empower the sector and integrate all activities under one umbrella.
During the launching of the license ceremony, as many as 32 logistic licenses were handed over to companies, 10 out of the total are local firms, where holders will be allowed to carry out customs clearance, warehousing and packaging, as the domain is dedicated for the private sector, from inside the Kingdom and abroad.
The tasks of the license are to work as an intermediary for land, air, sea and railway freight, and other host of different activities that would emerge, into one activity with the unified license for logistics services.
It set to facilitate work on all government sectors, the private sector, and companies investing, in various modes of transport.
Such a license will play a major and pivotal role, in achieving the objectives of the national strategy for transport and logistics, as through the support, it will provide to government agencies with solutions.
In addition to providing the private sector with investment opportunities, such as transport brokers and shipping companies, in accordance with the directions and the Kingdom Vision 2030.
The national strategy for transport and logistics aims to raise the Kingdom to be among the top 10 countries, in the world, in the logistic performance index by 2030. And developing more than 60 logistic zones to support exports, e-commerce and re-export domains, as well.
