COP26 Saudi Pavilion Highlight NEOM Commitment, Renewable Potential

The Kingdom’s pavilion, at the United Nations Climate Conference COP26 shed light on the renewable energy and hydrogen production projects in the city of NEOM, a lecture entitled “Designing a 100% Renewable Energy System from Zero – Marhaba or Welcome NEOM”, which was attended by a crowd of interested and visitors.

The lecture dealt with the pioneering and environmentally friendly technologies that will be used in the NEOM project, aims to make the city the first destination in the world to rely entirely on renewable energy, and one of the most prominent sources of clean energy, globally speaking..

The NEOM project falls within the framework of the ambitious aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to transform the Kingdom into a leading global model, by focusing on localizing value chains, in industries and technology, such as the projects that NEOM intend to establish, through investing in the mix of solar and wind energy, with the aim of making it a leading region, in the world, based on on completely renewable energy.

The lecture focused on explaining the hydrogen project, which is the largest of its kind in the world, as its importance lies in its consistency with NEOM’s efforts to achieve leadership, in the production of green hydrogen and green fuels globally, to be a focal point in NEOM’s journey to become the most important destination, globally, in providing sustainable solutions, in a way that attracts investors and best of minds from all countries of the world..

The pavilion drew attention to NEOM’s signing of an agreement with Air Products and ACWA Power, worth $5billion, to build a facility, in NEOM to produce hydrogen, in an environmentally friendly manner, and export it to the global market, in order to provide sustainable solutions to the global transport sector and to confront climate change challenges, through practical solutions, to reduce carbon emissions.
