At Jeddah Islamic Port

Ports Authority, DP Begin Building S. Container Terminal

The General Authority of Ports and DP World inaugurated the construction work for the first phase of the southern container terminal development project, at Jeddah Islamic Port.

The development of the Southern Container Terminal is part of the new commercial attribution contract that the Ports Authority signed with DP World in December 2019 and took effect in April 2020, under a build-operate-transfer system for a period of 30 years, which will contribute to transforming Jeddah into a major global trade and logistics center.

The plans to develop the Southern Container Terminal include extending the berth length from 1,500 to 2,150 meters and deepening the draft to 18 meters, which will enable the terminal to serve five ships simultaneously and deal with the largest container ships operating today and in the future, with a tonnage of up to 26,000 TEUs. .
