The IFTIAS program, which will be implemented over 5-year, by the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), has been recently launched, in Jeddah.
It aims to improve the international trade environment, make it more efficient and inclusive, create job opportunities and contribute to sustainable development, in the Arab world.
The program is primarily concerned with working to enter foreign markets, removing restrictions on the supply of goods and services, and enhancing the inclusiveness of trade for all groups, especially, youth and women, who have suffered from the pandemic fallouts.
Hani Sonbol, CEO of ITFC, expressed the Islamic Development Bank Group’s pride in the support, that such an initiative has received from the leaders of Arab countries, through the decision of the 4th session of the Arab Economic Summit, held in Beirut, on January 2019, which called on ITFC to prepare and launch the second phase of the AFTIAS program, in collaboration with the League of Arab States.
“The Islamic Development Bank Group views the IFTIAS 2.0 program with great optimism and hope, especially after amending the program document to take into account the needs of Arab countries, in facing the pandemic and recovering from its effects,” President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Dr. Muhammad Al-Jasser remarked.
