Governor of SAMA Graces Participating Teams

Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak honored the teams participating, in the joint research program in its first edition.

He also handed over the bank’s award to the winning research team, during a ceremony held, in Riyadh.

Significance of research in supporting the decision-making process, the response of researchers to the stages of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the need to provide research that would benefit the Saudi economy, he commented, adding that that there are important sectors that began to take their place, in the Saudi economy, and emerged as a result of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, such as culture, sports, entertainment and tourism, noting that researchers should focus on topics related to these sectors and discuss their effects on the economy and economic diversity, in the Kingdom.

In addition to paying attention to topics related to digitization and innovation, to keep the pace with everything new in the field of research around the world, and this naturally includes economic issues in general, and those related to the central bank and its responsibilities, in particular, as the central bank supervises important sectors in the economy such as the banking sector, the insurance sector and finance companies, as well as payment systems and companies, he stated.

Affirming the Saudi Central Bank’s continued support and encouragement for research work and researchers, whether through the joint research program or other programs sponsored by the Central Bank.

It is worth noting that the joint research program was launched in its first edition in September last year, and the program is based on the principle of research participation between the Bank’s researchers, experienced and specialists from outside the bank.

In its first edition, the program covered six themes: the macroeconomic and foreign trade, the financial sector, the labor market, the energy, the private sector, and the current issues.
The program witnessed a great demand, as the number of research proposals submitted reached 226, of which 14 were selected, covering the six themes of the program.

The program also witnessed proposals submitted by university employees, some government and private sectors, and commercial banks.
