Pushing forward self-employment economy, in the Kingdom

CIT Domain related Program to Upgrade, Support Freelance Work

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched a program, specialized in self-employment, in the field of communications and information technology, as part of its “Future Skills” initiative, in partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in the Republic of Egypt, as a supportive step to empower and build skills for those, working as independently self-employed, in the sector.

It aims to qualifying and train them, providing them with appropriate support, increasing the share of Saudis in the field of self-employment, pushing the development of the self-employment economy, in the Kingdom, and enabling the technology sector to achieve digital transformation in line with Vision 2030.

The program, which comes in partnership with several government agencies and other private and non-profit sectors’ affiliates.

Supporting self-employment by rehabilitating and empowering those interested in practicing self-employment, in the sector, with the definition of financing products, financial support, training and qualification for opportunities taking, in the same field, is the main objective.

It targets the two categories of job seekers who are distinguished in a specific field suitable for self-employment, and those who are out of work, who may have appropriate skills in technology, working through its activities to qualify and support them, in the field of communications and information technology, in order to increase the number of workers from the sons and daughters of the country, in the field of Self-employment, raising the market share of Saudis, in this field, in addition to raising community awareness of the concept of self-employment and the opportunities available, in the labor market.

The program is based on 3 main pillars: training and qualification, targeting 1500 trainees, with the identification of the areas of communications and information technology, that are most present in the free labor market and targeting them in the training program.

The second pillar of the program, in which the ministry cooperates with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, is issuing the self-employment document, in addition to cooperation with the “Social Development Bank” to facilitate access to financing products, while the third is concerned with setting up a marketing campaign for the program and specialized events and meetings, as well as reviewing models and stories, with inspirational success to motivate new comers participants.
