CEO of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Amr Madani revealed that it is working to establish the first seed bank, to care for as much as 600 thousand seeds by 2023, which will contribute to restoring and reviving the environment and developing the natural landscape, as the initiative will provide a knowledge base to understand plant matters more and continue this process for coming years.

This came during a discussion panel within the “Green Saudi Initiative” forum, with the participation of Amr Madani, CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUl, Magdi Batatu, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Nestlé, in the Kingdom and Renat Heuberger, Co-founder and CEO South Pole.

Madani stated that the Kingdom has set a clear framework for restoring and reviving the ecosystem through the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to reach zero carbon emissions by 2060, explaining that Al-Ula aims to reduce emissions through initiatives currently taking place, and work to revive its diversity, which has always been a source of sustainability from the commercial aspect and cultural activities for thousands of years, stressing that the green transformation of Al-Ula will contribute to the restoration and growth of its vegetation and the regeneration of what must be generated and renewed to remain for the future generations.

For his part, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of “Nestlé”, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Majdi Batatu said that the food industry in the Middle East must focus on environmental diversity and environmental protection, which is what we seek to rebuild and revegetate again, through generative agriculture.

To protect the soil that is the beating heart of the planet and to benefit from best practices, and the continuous endeavor to plant these trees to reduce carbon, he explained.

In turn, the founding partner and CEO of the South Pole Renat Heuberger said that the Kingdom, in particular, and many countries have many advantages that bear fruit, day after day, by building partnerships and working to generate vegetation, explaining that the world should redouble efforts to preserve the climate and environmental diversity, in light of the climate change.
