A Decade away to See Taxi Robot Fleets -Lucid CEO Says

Putting self-driving taxis on the road could take a decade, Peter Rawlinson, CEO of the electric car startup Lucid Group said.

“I think we’re 10 years away before we see fleets of robot taxis,” Reuters quoted the former Tesla head engineer.

Even with the world’s most powerful sensor systems, it won’t happen anytime soon,” he added.

Lucid Motors, a Tesla competitor, has begun building luxury electric automobiles called Lucid Air, equipped with a variety of sensors, such as 14 cameras and LiDAR.

“In terms of technical progress, this is an exceptional system,” Rawlinson concluded.
