Saudi Arabia Committed to the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy – Minister of Energy Reiterates

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to the standards of transparency, reliability, and safety, in its national policies, Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, reasserted.

Its national program to use the atomic energy, focuses on developing peaceful uss of nuclear energy, he elaborated.

This was unfolded, as he was addressing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where he reaffirmed the Kingdom’s view that the region, should be free of weapons of mass destruction and that Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

Expressing his delight at the start of construction on the Nuclear Security Center building, which is part of the Agency’s laboratories funded with a $10-million grant by the Kingdom.

Other friendly countries also backed it, emphasizing the Agency’s key position, in the global nuclear security system.

(IAEA) General Assembly has convened in Vienna on Monday, to review issues facing it since last year, as a result of the Coronavirus’ pandemic and other challenges.

The conference has begun with remarks from the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Agency’s Secretary-General, followed by addresses of representatives from Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Russia, China, France, Iran and the United States.
