Hoping to encourage competition, in government related bids

General Authority for Competition, EXPRO Co-sign MoU

The General Authority for Competition and the Government Expenditure & Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO) have co-signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU), hoping to promote, protect and encourage competition, in government related bids, while also combating monopolistic behaviors.

The move is predicated to increase the level of collaboration and cooperation, across government entities.

In the presence of a number of employees from the two bodies, the Governor of the General Authority for Competition Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Zoum and the CEO of EXPRO Eng. Abdulrazzaq bin Subhi Al-Aujan, co-signed the memorandum.

It aims to establish cooperation between the two authorities, in monitoring practices that violate competition law, such as collusion in government tenders and competitions, knowledge transfer, training, and awareness, as well as identifying gaps and work rules and procedures that need to be reformed and proposed amendments in the brochure of conditions and specifications.

The Governor of the General Authority for Competition praised this step, as a way to strengthen the relationship, and build bridges of effective cooperation between the General Authority for Competition and the EXPRO, as well as with other government bodies, in order to keep up with the national economic development and major reforms, while maintaining a fair and transparent competition environment.

For his part, the CEO of EXPRO stated that the authority is glad to work with the General Authority for Competition, and to strengthen their partnership.

With an ultimate goal of exchanging experiences between the two bodies, they will work together, in order to make the national economic sectors’ competition environment, much more fertile and fair, in accordance with the wise leadership’s aspirations and to realize the Kingdom Vision 2030 objectives.
