Aramco’s Yanbu Refinery Grabs the Diamond Category of Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awa

Yanbu-based Saudi Aramco Refinery received Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, at its 19th edition ceremony for the Year 2021, where the award-winning companies and institutions were honored, through their diamond, gold and silver categories.

The management of Yanbu Refinery was unique in achieving the Diamond category among all competitors, in all sectors, thus being the first Saudi facility to reach this level.

The award was received by the director of the refinery Eng. Abdultaif bin Saleh Al-Shami.

This achievement is, in addition to the local and international achievements of Yanbu Refinery, he said, is a praise to the refinery’s employees’ commitment to the highest standards of sustainability and flexibility, in performance, as they maintained outstanding performance results.

In addition to results related to customers, human resources and community service, indicating that the refinery was subjected to an intensive assessment by 9 assessors from around the world, during two phases.

The first is the assessment of the documents, and the second is the field assessment, which lasted for three continuous days, during which the assessors verified the documents and conducted several interviews with the refinery’s employees, from all its departments to analyze the efficiency of the facility’s performance, to achieve its strategic objectives.

Yanbu Refinery succeeded in presenting the best practices, systems and sustainable programs that distinguished it from its peers, and the assessment was based on a global and comprehensive evaluation model for institutional excellence consisting of nine criteria, he elaborated.

These criteria are divided into five enablers: Leadership, strategy, human resources, partnerships and resources, in addition to processes, products and services) and four results criteria that include customer outcomes, human resources, society, and key performance outcomes.

Flexibility and institutional safety, especially in light of the Corona pandemic, are also included.

It is noteworthy that Yanbu Refinery has achieved many achievements, during the past years, starting with ranking the first, in the King Khalid Award, the gold category of the King Abdulaziz Quality Award, and its achievement of the 6-star category in the Certificate of Recognition of Excellence from the European Quality Management Facility.
